Born in 1985 in Morocco, in the worst conditions you can imagine — extreme poverty, corruption, and a system designed to break anyone who dared to dream — I fled to New York searching for a place where merit actually mattered. Instead, I discovered that my Moroccan Master’s Degree in Science meant nothing here. I was trapped between starting college from scratch or working nonstop to support my struggling family back home. Every hour I stole for my innovative work came at the cost of sleep, stability, and a bank account balance.

After years of grinding through that reality, I realized I had escaped one failed system only to land in another — Eric Adams’ New York City — an administration with no time for innovation, yet somehow plenty of time to let its residents pay the price for leadership stuck in conventional thinking.
